Cellulose fibers in facial tissue (Kleenex). Kleenex is a brand name of facial tissue that is registered trademark of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Kleenex is made from what was originally called, Cellucotton, and was first produced during World War I. It is primarily made of specially treated cellulose (wood) fibers that are biodegradeable. It was used in gas mask filters during the war and as a replacement for cotton due to high demand for use as a surgical dressing.
